How a multi-entity appliance retailer unified 18+ stores, three entities, and real-time inventory on NetSuite Financials.
The Situation
Eighteen-plus stores. Three entities. One brand of appliances flying off the shelves every day. In a category where having the product on the floor is the difference between a sale and a shrug, this retailer was growing fast, but its systems could not keep up. What it needed was simple to say and hard to do: one source of truth across the entire retail network.
The Obstacles
Most of the network was invisible to head office, and the books were assembled by hand. There was no live link between the store floor and group financials, so leadership could neither trust the inventory nor measure which stores were actually making money while it still mattered.
Store-Level Blind Spots
Head office was flying blind. Nobody could see what sold on the floor until the numbers were manually stitched together, dragging out the close period after period.
Untracked Inventory Movement
Most stores lacked visibility, leaving inter-branch stock movement untracked. As a result, nobody could reliably trust the actual inventory sitting on the shelves.
Segmented Entity Complexities
Lacking a unified ERP, stores and finance relied on manual consolidation. Sister entities needed to roll up without bearing the cost of separate NetSuite accounts.
The Solution
Softype delivered Oracle NetSuite Financials with Advanced Inventory across all three retail entities on a single tenant, with each capability tied directly to a structural challenge. The project utilized the Softype QuickStart methodology over a 120-day timeline.
We consolidated customers, items, and vendors to support per-store inventory. General Ledger, AP, and AR were unified across all three entities on a single tenant, creating a standardized order-to-cash and procure-to-pay workflow.
The Results
Unified Retail ERP
18+ retail stores and three distinct entities unified on a single NetSuite tenant.
Real-Time Visibility
Sales, receipts, and inter-location transfers now flow directly to the head office.
Cost-Effective Rollout
APC-enabled retail operations avoided the high cost of full licenses for every store
NetSuite for Retail: How We Delivered the Results
We worked shoulder to shoulder with the retailer's finance and store-operations teams, getting the financial foundation and master data solid first, then turning on Advanced Partner Center to bring every store online in real time. Widening the rollout pushed go-live out by a few weeks, and that was a deliberate call: better to light up the whole network at once than leave branches in the dark. The foundation laid here successfully supported future WordPress and COGS integrations.
